Along the Oudegracht with its lowered terraces, you walk out of Utrecht until you reach Werkhoven, where the towpath along the Kromme Rijn is still reminiscent of the time of barges.
You can enjoy stately old estates, forts of the Dutch Waterline, orchards and the ever-changing river.
